ARCHITECT (3-5 Years)

Founded in Houston, Texas in 2001, Abel Design Group is a premier mid-size architecture and design firm with projects across the globe. In addition to its headquarters in Houston, the firm also has offices in Austin, Denver, and Atlanta.

Abel Design Group is seeking a Designer to join its Houston, Austin, Denver and Atlanta offices. The ideal candidate will excel in innovative design solutions, be committed to design excellence, and exercise independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and use of techniques. The candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.

This position will focus on Architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Work under Project Architect to produce excellent set of construction documents
  • Ensure technical resolution and coordination of design intent
  • Confirm that construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance and best practices standards
  • Provide technical support and project communication
  • Work with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives
  • Conduct code analyses
  • Conduct on-site observations and prepare Architect’s field reports, as needed
  • Review submittals during construction, and maintain RFI and submittal logs
  • Coordinate multiple projects concurrently
  • Support project team with various administrative duties and project correspondence

 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • Proficiency in Revit required
  • Additional software used in the position may include AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, and 3-D Studio MAX
  • Experience in construction document preparation
  • Knowledge of building materials, specifications, construction, and building codes, including ADA
  • Sufficient knowledge of engineering disciplines to coordinate their work
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Flexibility to focus on multiple projects at the same time

DESIGNER (1-3 years of experience)

This position will focus on Corporate Interiors. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of Project Manager/Senior Project Manager
  • May attend client planning meetings to take meeting notes
  • Perform field verification of existing conditions
  • Prepare design drawings, from schematic design through construction documents, with minor supervision
  • Implement technical resolution and coordination of design intent
  • Communicate with consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project documents
  • Assist in material selection and product specification
  • Support project team with various administrative duties and project correspondence
  • Contribute to office initiatives and learning programs

Qualifications:

  • 1 – 3 years of relevant architecture or design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • Licensure in Architecture or Interior Design preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit required
  • Additional software used in the position may include AutoCAD, Adobe In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, and 3-D Studio MAX
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills

DESIGNER (3-5 Years)

Abel Design Group is seeking an Experienced Designer to join its Houston, Austin, Denver, Atlanta, and Bay Area locations.  The ideal candidate will excel in innovative design solutions and be committed to design excellence.  The candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.

This position will focus on Corporate Interiors. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Principal in Charge/Lead Designer to establish project concept and aesthetics
  • Implement all phases of projects, including client meetings, field verification, drawing production, material and furniture selection/specification, and construction administration
  • Coordinate multiple projects concurrently
  • Work with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives
  • Manage client expectations regarding scope, budget, and schedule
  • Maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships
  • Manage project staffing, fees, and schedule
  • Track and ensure project profitability
  • Support project team with various administrative duties and project correspondence
  • Contribute to office initiatives and learning programs
  • Participate in business development and marketing efforts
  • Recruit and mentor staff
  • Report to Senior Project Manager or Associate Principal

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant architecture or interior design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • Test fitting through construction documentation preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit required
  • Additional software used in the position may include Adobe In-Design, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Flexibility to focus on multiple projects at the same time
  • Extensive knowledge of building materials, construction, and building codes, including ADA
